Objective : This study is conducted to find the effective therapy method of dysphagia by comparing the changes of FDS, ASHA NOMS, and Penetration-Aspiration scale after electrical stimulation and traditional therapy.
Methods : NMES is attached to hyoid bone and both sides of thyroid notch. Traditional swallowing therapy is conducted by rehabilitation approach and compensational approach. Both therapy methods are conducted by each 38 patients(totally 76 patients) for 30 minutes every day(five day per week) for two weeks.
Results : In case of NMES, residue of food in vallecular and pyriform sinus decreased and total score is improved by significantly. But traditional therapy improve only elevation of thyroid by significantly. The difference of the function, diet level, and penetration-aspiration by therapy method are not significant.
Conclusion : In this study, there are significant results in a change of function, diet level, and enetrationaspiration after each therapy method. But the difference between both method is not significant.
